A new recap video for this week, mentioning the release of new albums by Norah Jones, George Harrison, Michael Kiwanuka, Patrick Watson, Father John Misty, and a small promo for an up and comer band that I most definitely recommend!

So…

Looking over my musical calendar for this year as it stands so far, March is by far going to be my busiest month for releasing reviews and really doing this musical thing through Youtube in 2012.

Not that it’s all about the reviews(there will be plenty of musical enjoyment along the way), but as it stands we have:

Bon Iver, 12” Towers/Bruised Orange(Chain of Sorrow) Single

Magnetic Fields, Love At The Bottom of the Sea

Andrew Bird, Break It Yourself

Bowerbirds, The Clearing

The Shins, Port of Morrow

Justin Townes Earle, Nothing’s Gonna Change The Way You Feel About Me Now

Michael Kiwanuka, Home Again

There is also a rumor I heard not long ago about Lee Ranaldo from Sonic Youth releasing a solo album in March, but since there still isn’t confirmation of that this is pretty much the list for now. Some will be on vinyl, some will be digital, and either way I can’t wait!

So this is my first post of 2012! I thought i’d post a session i did for Zane Lowe on radio 1. We did a cover of Led Zepplin’s Whole Lotta Love. The best thing about this is that we got to play a five and a half minute vamp on prime time radio.

Glad to see Michael posting more good stuff, I cannot even tell you how excited I am to hear more stuff from him this year. If there’s anyone you need to be paying attention to, it’s Michael Kiwanuka.

It has become an important tradition that in every city, the first thing to look for is the nearest guitar shop. Whilst in New York we found a great place on Bleecker Street in Greenwich Village. I ran into a Martin D28 from 1954. It was one of the best guitars i have ever played.

Can’t imagine Michael just walking in and playing an instrument. It’d be like sound heaven.

Second video of the night on my vinyl version of the Michael Kiwanuka EP “I’m Getting Ready”. Smooth simple and easy, like the music and the video. Had fun doing it.
